RIVER TOURS - ABOUT US
In
November 2004, owners Christi Chambers and Phillip
Duvic shared a glass of Merlot at Maryhill winery.
Savoring the rich flavors and scenic view, they
thought how others might enjoy Gorge wineries
without having to drive.
An idea was started to form Hood River Tours,
and specialize in taking guests on custom private
wine tours of the region.
"By the next summer we had started booking
guests and formed a partnership with Bonneville
Resort, The Best Western, and Vineyard View B&B
to offer package room and wine tours. We wanted
our tours to be all inclusive and led by
guides that were educated in wine and really knew
the Gorge.
We put together a 4 hour custom package where
guests are taken to their choice of the wineries
in Hood River such as Cathedral Ridge, Pheasant
Valley, and Mt. Hood Winery, or the wineries in
Washington such as Maryhill, Marshal's, Columbia
Crest and Syncline. The tour includes mostly
free wine tasting, a gourmet picnic lunch, exclusive
cellar tours, along with driver, mini-van and
gas.
Couples really enjoy the romantic getaway and
uniqueness of the tour" says Phillip.
It makes a great gift and a special way to see
the sights of the Columbia Gorge.
We often make impromptu stops at Hood River shopping
and local Fruit stands along the way. The guests
make local purchases and help to support the community.
